Using the Keyboard to Navigate

Using the buttons on your keyboard, you can navigate through various elements in the Sight Machine platform’s user interface.

Keystrokes

The following keystrokes are available to you.

Action Result
Press TAB. You move forward to the next user interface element.
Press SHIFT+TAB. You move backward to the previous user interface element.
Press Enter. You activate the action of the element.
For example, in a multi-select list, pressing Enter on an item in the list toggles its selected state.
In a dialog box that contains Cancel and Apply buttons, pressing Enter activates Apply.
Press Esc. You activate the Cancel function, close the menu, or close the picker, regardless of which element in the picker has focus.
In a dialog box that contains Cancel and Apply buttons, pressing Esc activates Cancel.
Press SHIFT+CMD+S. You activate the Apply function of the picker, regardless of which element in the picker has focus.
In a dialog box that contains Cancel and Apply buttons, pressing SHIFT+CMD+S activates Apply.

Sidebar Picker Behaviors

The following are expected behaviors in the sidebar pickers.

Action Result
Press Esc. You close the picker with no change.
Press SHIFT+CMD+S. You activate the Apply function of the picker.

Menu Behaviors

The following are expected behaviors in the menus.
Action Result
Press TAB. You scroll up through the menu items.
Press SHIFT+TAB. You scroll down through the menu items.
Press Esc. You close the menu with no selection.
Press Enter.
  • On a single-select menu item, you select that item and close the menu.
  • On a multi-select menu, you toggle the selected state of that item.
Click outside of the menu. You close the menu.
