Factory COPILOT

Introduction

Sight Machine has integrated the Manufacturing Data Platform with Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service to unleash the power of generative AI. Through a natural language interface, Factory CoPilot brings an intuitive, "ask the expert" experience for every stakeholder — regardless of data proficiency.

Behind the scenes, we use Azure OpenAI to do what it's good at (language processing) and we do what we're good at (data and manufacturing). This means that Azure OpenAI has limited access to your data — all of it is being stored and processed on our side, so that your data is kept secure. 

Factory CoPilot allows you to:

• Create truly generative results where numeric data results become emails, reports, and text summaries.
• Summarize daily meetings and enhance with ML analysis, making the data easier to access for all.
• Guide users through root cause analysis and drill-down investigation for faster diagnosis of issues.
• Ensure that results are based on auditable, traceable, and validated statistical models.
• Retain data security in a managed environment.
• Make data more consumable in unique ways (like a Shakespearean sonnet!)
  
  
  

Questions and Skills

Factory CoPilot has various skills that match up with the types of questions that it's able to answer. Questions outside of these types will not be answerable and you will see a message like "I am not yet able to answer questions about this" or "I do not know anything about this."

General Questions

General questions don't require any special data for an answer. For example:

• "Which machines do you know about?"
• "What is performance measured by on my Dryer?"
• "What day is it?"
• "Turn your last response into a Shakespearean sonnet."

And even non-manufacturing questions like, "Give me a recipe for vegan muffins."

Data Summary Questions

Data summary questions are essentially SQL in plain English. All that's needed to answer these questions is a quick query to your manufacturing data. For example:

• "What was the availability of the Sprayer in the last 5 minutes?"
• "What was the average runtime of my Dryer yesterday?"
• "What was the hourly average Line Speed today on Machine 4?"

Tag and KPI Questions

Tag and KPI questions are about which tags or KPIs exist for a specific machine. You can even filter the list based on a word like "speed." For example:

• "What tags do you have for the Dryer?"
• "What KPIs exist on Machine #7?"
• "What speed tags do you have for the Dryer?"
• "Please list all Sprayer tags related to 'pump'."

Predictor Questions

Predictor questions are about what factors contribute to the values of your various KPIs. This skill is only available for Quality, Availability, and Performance KPIs on machines that have been specifically configured on our end. For example:

• "What are the best predictors of Dryer availability?"
• "Please write a 250 word report about the factors that contribute to Sprayer quality."

Implementation

Upon request, your Sight Machine platform homepage can now have a Factory CoPilot icon in the lower-right corner. This opens a chat window that allows you to ask questions about the data in your factory.
